Just because Avengers: Endgame came out in April doesn’t mean we’re done with the theories of its characters, as one fan came up with a doozy about Captain America and Star-Lord.
You see, according to one punter, old mate Cap AKA Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) may just be the biological grandfather of Peter Quill (Chris Pratt).
Is your head about to explode too?
Effectively, Reddit user u/chill_bishop believes this theory based on the fact the actress who plays Meredith Quill (Laura Haddock), Peter’s mum, in Guardians Of The Galaxy had a part in The First Avenger, ‘where it’s implied something happens with her and Cap’.
In fact, she’s just a fan of Cap who shared a little moment with the hero. Still, that doesn’t stop them wondering if she was in fact also Meredith’s mother in the 2011 film and we just didn’t know it yet.
‘Fast forward to GOTG2 where Peter is the only offspring of [father in the film] Ego’s millions of kids to have the inner light. Plus timeline matches up pretty perfectly,’ they continued this week, of Peter’s special origin.
They added: ‘More evidence is that if Peter is just a normal guy, how come he has the inner light and none of the other MILLIONS of Ego’s kids didn’t? Almost NOTHING is done in movies by accident, why would they cast that same woman for those two parts?’
When it comes to the timeline, they try to make it work by saying: ‘Gma has Meredith in the mid 40s, Peter was a young boy in the late 70s early 80s, actress was 30-31 when filming GOTG2 in the scenes when she meets Ego.’
Oh…dear Star-Lord…are we beginning to wonder if this might come off? Look, Marvel have done weirder things, right?
It’s a little hard to believe on the face of it, seeing as Star-Lord is so opposite to Cap, what with Steve’s Vibranium wielding and keenness to sacrifice all for the safety of humanity. No office, Peter.
But weirdly, this whole thing is plausible.
James Gunn even joked about it last year, if you were wondering what the GOTG director has to say about the thing.
That’s Quill’s grandma. I just made this up. https://t.co/yCFm39QjlB

Of course fans were sceptical as they weighed in with their two cents.
‘You severely overestimate the attention to detail in Marvel movies. This isn’t even the only instance of the same person playing two different minor roles in the MCU,’ one noted. ‘She was only in the Captain America movie for like one second, so it’s not like anybody watching Guardians of the Galaxy would remember her.’
Others were picking it up, though, as one added: ‘Interesting, I’d always thought the attention they paid to her in CA, indicated she’d taken Steve’s virginity, the way the moment is shown. This is a solid theory that I like.’
