Simon Cowell appeared to change the rules of The X Factor: Celebrity live on air tonight, as two more acts were eliminated from the competition.
The Syco boss seemed to have a change of heart seconds after his act – Love Island supergroup No Love Lost – were voted off by fellow judges Louis Walsh and Nicole Scherzinger.
The group was comprised of former Islanders Wes Nelson, Eyal Booker, Zara McDermott and Samira Mighty. The group took a risk this week by performing an original song, which sadly didn’t pay off – well, at least not yet…
‘I tell you what we’re going to do, Dermot,’ Cowell said off-the-cuff. ‘No-one’s agreed to this.
‘When it gets to whoever’s going to be in the final, I’m going to put a public vote to whoever is the most popular loser into the final.’
A last minute decision? From the mogul who announced this week that potential acts have just days to enter for the new X Factor: The Band series? We can’t believe it!
No Love Lost were the latest victims of the sing-off this week, losing a spot in the fourth live show to fellow pop group V5, comprised of Latin social media influencers.
They joined journalist Martin Bashir, who was instantly eliminated from the competition after getting the lowest votes from the public.
It seemed like No Love Lost took their elimination well, however, and promised that it wasn’t the last we will be seeing of them.
(If Simon has his way, that might just be a lot sooner than expected).
‘We’ve come from the Villa to singing in front of Simon Cowell!’, Samira said live on stage.
Eyal added: ‘This isn’t the last you’ll hear from us, I promise.’
We’ll see if the foursome will actually be returning for the live final – their other fellow eliminated acts include actor Jonny Labey, Love, Actually’s Olivia Olson, Corrie star Victoria Okanoye and chat show icon Ricki Lake.
The X Factor: Celebrity continues next Saturday on ITV.
