MADRID, Sep. 16 (Moose Gazette) –
The authorities of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), close to Russia, announced this Friday the nationalization of the facilities and equipment of three of the region’s mobile phone operators.
Thus, the Defense Committee of the Donetsk Republic has indicated that the infrastructures and facilities of these companies –Kievstar, Lifecell and Trimob– will become “state property of the DPR without compensation from the owners.”
With this measure, the main beneficiary will be the state telecommunications company, which will exclusively receive and manage the nationalized infrastructures, according to the Russian news agency TASS.
As detailed by the region’s authorities, this measure seeks to “guarantee state management of a unified system to meet the needs of mobile communications services in the DPR.”
