Kate Garraway considered not going on I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here just weeks before the show was due to start.
Piers Morgan let slip on Good Morning Britain that his fellow co-host called up him to ask for advice regarding the ITV show, which will start on Sunday.
‘Kate rang me three weeks ago when she first got approached and I said she should absolutely do it,’ Piers began.
‘People will love her, she will be hardworking.’
‘She only rang you as a courtesy call,’ fellow presenter Susanna Reid laughed.
Piers then argued back: ‘She was genuinely in two minds because if you get bounced out straight away it can be quite humiliating.’
Kate was spotted arriving at Brisbane Airport as she prepares to head into the Australian jungle.
Her arrival comes after weeks of acting coy about whether or not she would be going into the jungle this year – despite her co-hosts taking many opportunities to tease her about it.
When the new series starts at the weekend, she will be joined by the likes of Caitlyn Jenner, Ian Wright, Nadine Coyle and Jacqueline Jossa.
Adele Roberts, Roman Kemp, Myles Stephenson, James Haskell and Andrew Maxwell complete this year’s line up.
I’m A Celeb is known to bring in surprise new additions to the camp halfway through the show, so we’re expecting to see new faces as the series goes on.
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV and I’m A Celebrity starts on Sunday, 17 November on ITV.
