Area fire agencies are on their area to a wildfire burning near a trail near the old Heritage Square Amusement Park in the foothills west of Golden.
Golden Fire Department spokeswoman Karlyn Tilley said the Foothills Fire and Rescue department was taking the lead on the fire reported near the Apex trail early Saturday afternoon. She said it wasn’t clear what was burning or how big it was.
Jefferson County Open Space reported that Apex Park rangers and sheriff’s deputies were at the scene. The park was closed because of muddy conditions.
