Whitney Dean (Shona McGarty) was left in shock during EastEnders tonight, as — after boyfriend Leo King (Tom Wells) swept her off her feet and took her away to a posh hotel to celebrate her birthday — she came to learn of his true identity in harrowing scenes, as he prevented her from leaving the room.
With Whitney’s birthday on the horizon, Leo went out of his way to prove himself the perfect fella. As usual, he did a grand job, demonstrating a caring demeanour during last night’s episode, as he bought her a necklace, before revealing the night away he’d booked for them both in a pricey London hotel.
However, his true nature came to light when he seemingly battered his mum Michaela (Fiona Turnbull) to death when she posed a threat to all the hard work he’d put into manipulating Whitney.
During tonight’s episode, Leo headed up to the cemetery, and stood over his dad Tony’s (Chris Coghill) grave — which clearly hadn’t been looked after all that well given the growth surrounding the tombstone — promising him that today’s the day he clears his name.
Meanwhile, Callum (Tony Clay) heard that Leo had purchased flowers to take up to a local graveyard, which gave him food for thought. If Leo isn’t a local lad, then how could he know someone up at the graveyard?
Proving just how good a detective he’d make, Callum reiterated this to Jay (Jamie Borthwick), but Jay took no notice, and simply claimed he’s jealous of Whitney having moved on.
With Jay unwilling to listen to him, the hopeful copper went straight to Leo to get to the bottom of what was going on. Very quickly, he punctured holes in Leo’s narrative — which left the sinister paralegal incredibly angry. As a result, he aggressively forced Callum against the wall and threatened him.
Determined to do the right thing — as always — Callum headed over to discuss Leo with Tiffany (Maisie Smith) who, much like Jay, simply accused him of being jealous. However, the concern was evident in his face, so — in spite of what Tiffany was telling herself — she knew he had a point, as she once had concerns about Leo too.
Whitney and Leo headed off to their posh hotel, but — as they did so — Tiffany’s concerns grew, and thus she decided to ring up Bianca (Patsy Palmer) to get to the bottom of what’s going on.
Bianca refrained from giving Tiff the whole truth — that is, until Tiffany revealed that Whitney’s dating Leo. Left with no other choice, Bianca revealed that Leo is Tony’s son — leaving Tiff horrified.
Callum opened up about his fears to Ben (Max Bowden), who was incredibly angry over the fact that Leo had threatened his boyfriend.
However, as they discussed plans of attack, Tiffany arrived, and told Callum he was right, before asking Ben for his car — as they urgently needed to get Whitney to safety.
Meanwhile, at the hotel, Leo rejected all of the calls from Tiffany on Whitney’s phone, before powering off the device so that they’d be fully alone.
After they slept together, Leo headed off to the bathroom to freshen up — seemingly ready to carry out whatever sick revenge he had in mind — but the hotel’s phone rang, and Whitney answered.
Tiffany reiterated her discovery to Whitney — who was left speechless. As she crept to the door and opened it, Leo appeared out of nowhere and closed it once more before she could leave.
The pair shared a look — the worry evident in Whitney’s face.
Will Leo discover that Whitney knows the truth?
If so, he’ll no doubt do whatever it takes to prevent her from leaving. We know what he’s capable off after the heinous attack he carried out on his mum yesterday, so there’s literally nothing he won’t do in order to exact the revenge he so desperately craves.
Will Leo kill Whitney?
Or will Callum and Tiffany get to her in time?
