Brandon Routh’s return as Superman on Crisis On Infinite Earths is fast approaching – and by the looks of the first teaser, his version of Clark hasn’t aged too well.
The actor last took on the spandex 12 years ago, but for reasons we still don’t know, the DC Universe has been a little cruel in the years he’s been the Man of Steel.
In a fleeting glimpse at what’s to come, Brandon’s Superman has began to show the signs of stress of being the world’s saviour – going grey and getting a wrinkle or five in the time since he appeared in Superman Returns back in 2006.
At least he’ll have some new pals to help him from the DC Universe this time around (maybe even more than one version of the same person!)
While there’s no explanations yet, we’re sure we’re going to get one as worlds collide with at least three former Supermen stars returning for more trouble.
Tom Welling, who played the Smallville version of Clark Kent for 10 years, hasn’t been seen as Clark Kent for eight years – but made an exception for a cameo in the new piece.
The resident Superman, Tyler Hoechlin, will also be there when universes collide in what’s been promised as the ‘ultimate crossover event ever’.
And they’re really not lying – with all sorts of timelines clashing in a complete mess our heroes have to clear up.
Crisis On Infinite Earths will be based on the comic books of the same name from the 1980s and will bring together all of the current on-screen Arrowverse shows and heroes.
This includes the new Batwoman series fronted by Ruby Rose, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow and, of course, Arrow.
It will air as a five-hour event – with the first three hours airing in December and the second half premiering in 2020.
Crisis On Infinite Earths will start 8 December on The CW in the US, and in the UK at an unconfirmed date.
