Princess the ‘hypnodog’ from Britain’s Got Talent is actually a fake.
Her owner Krystyna Lennon revealed the pawful news as her German Spitz, that appeared on the show with her in 2015, is retiring.
The 45-year-old said ‘it’s not fair to string everybody along and let them believe she has super powers when she doesn’t have any’.
Krystyna, who qualified as a hypnotist in 2015, said she enjoyed her ‘hilarious journey’ since auditioning, but Princess is ‘an ordinary dog’.
‘I have had some doubts about revealing the truth, but it’s part of my story because the work I am trying to do now is getting people to realise that they are hypnotised by loads of things in everyday life and they just don’t realise,’ she explained.
‘I’ve had an absolutely hilarious journey and have had the chance to meet so many celebrities who all say they have been terrified or really excited to meet me.
‘It does make me laugh when I look back at all the people I’ve hypnotised and they believe that the power lies with the dog.’
On the show four years ago, Krystyna and Princess brought several members of the audience, as well as hosts Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly, on stage.
As well as sending them to ‘sleep’, she also hypnotised them to believe that the number seven didn’t exist. Viewers looked amazed as Ant and Dec struggled to count to ten on their fingers.
Judge Simon Cowell was also invited on stage to see if he would fall under Princess’ spell.
The dog attempted to ‘hypnotise’ Simon into being ‘a nice person’.
After the pair stared deep into each other’s eyes, Simon turned to the crowd and said: ‘Well nothing’s happened. It’s just a normal dog.
‘It’s just a dog with a huge tongue staring at me.’
Alesha Dixon commented: ‘I don’t think you can hypnotise everyone.’
Krystyna explained that she trained Princess to focus on the person being ‘hypnotised’ who is kneeling in front of her, because she thinks she will be rewarded with ham if she does it.
She also admitted that on the ITV show she spoke to members of the audience beforehand and ‘picked them out before they came on stage’.
The mum-of-three wants to continue her hypnosis career as a solo act, and wants to help people retrain their minds to believe in themselves.
