Two bodies found in the ashes of a New Jersey house fire had been stabbed to death, prosecutors said Friday in charging a 21-year-old man with murdering both victims — one of whom was his own father.
Suspect Jaree Kitchen stabbed his father, Clifford Kitchen, 53, and the second victim, who is still being identified, before setting the Nov. 6 blaze at the dad’s home, prosecutors said in a statement.
He has been charged with murder, aggravated arson and hindering prosecution.
Investigators originally believed both victims died in a fire when they responded to a report of flames at the house on Sheridan Street in Jamesburg.
An autopsy has since determined that both sustained stab wounds, prosecutors said.
Jaree is being held in the county jail and is due in court Nov. 13.
Attorney information for him was not immediately available.
